The Mall 2013 gathers pace

by Tamsin Francesca on January 14, 2013

Our toes may have frozen outside, but inside the Mall Galleries on Friday night the private view kicked off The Mall 2013 Society of Designer Craftsmens' exhibition.

SDC Mall 2013 Private View

The gallery was packed to the rafters with exhibitors and guests marvelling at the extraordinary array of talent on show.

Everything from textiles to woodwork to mixed media, ceramics, blacksmithing and jewellery.

The wonderful Mauro Dell'Orco taking the top prize of the night for his cabinet, Around. His furniture is something else, take a look here.

Another favourite of the night for me was Helen Edwards, who's pewter approach to textile art is a joy to behold. Her mini footballs of Japanese paper and etched pewter are irresistible, although resisting the urge to sneak in with a thread to finish sewing them up is tricky!

You'll find Tamsin Francesca towards the back of the gallery, in amongst some fine examples of wood work and ceramics (look out for Stephanie Wright's running man vessels en route).

For one month only there's 20% discounts online to celebrate the exhibition. You've only got one week per piece on offer, so keep cecking in make sure you don't miss a bargain. Especially for those of you planning spring weddings, now is the time to get your jewels and make sure you sparkle on your big day.

The exhibition is on until January 20th at the Mall Galleries, 17 Carlton House Terrace. The entrance is just inside St James' Park on your left as you come under Admiralty Arch from Trafalgar Square. I will be stewarding on Sunday 20th, the very last day, so come and say hello!

You can keep up with all the action from inside the gallery walls on facebook.
